Getting the Blood Flowing on Coronary Bypass: Photo Gallery Dawn over a very white Coire an Lochain. No1 buttress on the left looking marginally less buried. Andy slogging up to the convenient gearing up spot; where the wind had sculpted a perfect flat ledge. Beautiful colours as the moon sets and the sun rises. The cleaned lines of Savage Slit (V, 6) and Fallout Corner (VI, 7) easily seen on No4 Buttress. The final wade to the base of Coronary Bypass. The route follows the line of weakness up chimneys and corners to the left of the prominent cleaned groove of Auricle (VI, 7). Andy back-and-footing to exit the short chimney at the start of the route – a good introductory pitch. Climbers on the second pitch of Ewan Buttress (III, 4) with the leader about to finish the crux section. Andy clearing his way up the crux corner – this section was covered completely in thick rime, which hid all the holds and gear placements. Trying hard on the crux corner and nearing the desperate mantle on to the powder covered slab above. Photo credit: Andy Inglis. Amazing views across the white wilderness of the high Cairngorms after topping out. Photo credit: Andy Inglis. On the summit of Cairn Lochain at dusk, with yet more spectacular colours. Not a bad way to end the day! Photo credit: Andy Inglis.Share this:FacebookX
